![]() STEP 1: DESKTOP/LAPTOP PC (WINDOWS 10), AND CLOUD STORAGE SETUP I understand very little about Linux, so while what I did works for me, I can not tell you why, nor do I understand what would make my process better/more efficient (function > form here, folks) I am using Windows 10 on my main desktop gaming PCĭo this before getting too far in the game! Otherwise, you might lose some progress, and need to start the game over, depending on which save file is most recent, and thus which save files sync with everything I am doing this with Just Cause 3, so you will need to do some searching for exactly where Steam puts the save files for other games, and use those paths, rather than the path for this specific example I am sure you could set up something similar with Google Drive/Dropbox/OneDrive/whatever else one might use for this sort of thing I used Mega.nz as my cloud storage provider. I did not plug in any USB dock or dongle or extra mouse and keyboard or anything I did all of this with just the built-in trackpad, and on-screen keyboard on the Steam Deck itself. If you play on PC, and then just switch over to Gaming Mode to play on your Steam Deck, I do not believe it will use the most recent save files. If you play Just Cause 3 on your PC, MEGAsync will download the newest files before you plat, and upload the files automatically once you quit the game, but you will need to run your Steam Deck in Desktop mode so MEGAsync can download the latest save files BEFORE you switch over to Gaming Mode, and start playing Just Cause 3 on your Steam Deck. ![]() After playing Just Cause 3 on your Steam Deck, you will need to switch over to Desktop Mode, and let MEGAsync run in order to upload and sync your save files (once this entire process is complete, and everything is set up, of course). THE BIGGEST THING TO NOTE is that unlike Steam’s built-in cloud sync, this syncing process/workaround does NOT happen automatically (maybe there is a way, but I have not found it). ![]() In theory, this general process should work for any game that does not support this, but Just Cause 3 is the only game I have tried this process with so far. ![]() This is a long post, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible (without screenshots, sorry).īelow is the workaround I use to (quasi-)automatically have MEGAsync share/sync save files between my gaming PC and my Steam Deck for Just Cause 3, which does not support Steam’s native cloud sync feature.
